Fox 21 TV Studios is planning a reboot of supernatural drama "Buffy the Vampire Slayer".
The original show, created by Joss Whedon, ran from 1996 to 2003 and featured
actor Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy Summers, the latest in a line of young women known as "Vampire Slayers", or simply "Slayers". The series received critical and popular acclaim with viewership ranging between four and six million on original airings.
The reboot will be penned by writer Monica Breen, who worked with Whedon on ABC's "Agents of SHIELD", reported Variety.
Whedon will executive produced the new series and he has been working with Breen on the script, which features a black actress stepping into the role of Buffy.
Gail Berman, Joe Earley, Fran Kazui and Kaz Kazui will also executive produce the reboot.
