Builder and company manager arrested for forgery

An owner of a building construction company and the manager of his company were arrested in connection with over two dozen cases of forgery in the steel city here, a senior police officer said today.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Rohit Singh, the owner of Gauri Associate and Akash Agarwal, the manager of the construction company, while they were coming to the city from Ranchi last night, said Senior Superintendent of Police, Amol V Homkar and Superintendent of Police, Karthik S.

Addressing a press conference here, Homkar said over two dozens cases of under various section of IPC including section 420 IPC in majority of cases were lodged against them under Bistupur, Kadma, Sonari and Sakchi police stations here.
 

They have been evading arrest for last one year, he said adding that police have been searching for Gauri Devi, Singh's mother-cum-partner in Gauri Associates, Homkar said.

Among other charges, Homkar said, the builder was accused of selling one flat to three persons in many of his projects and duped money in crores.

The problem surfaced when the flat owners had gone to occupy the flat but found it was sold to someone else, he said.

We are also investigating whether employees of Registry office have any connivance with the builder to make the forged documents, he said.

While Singh was a native of village Sunagaon Syedpur in Gazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, Agarwal was a native of Alwar district of Rajasthan.
