Bus torched by mob after death of a man in road accident

A mob today torched a private bus after it crushed a 38 year-old fruit vendor to death near Ramnagar Railway crossing in of Bihar's Saran district, an officer said.

The victim, identified as Mithelesh Kumar Sah, was selling fruits on roadside when a speeding private bus fatally trapped him under its wheels, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Quayyum Ansari said, adding the body has been sent for post-mortem at Sadar hospital.

A mob gathered on the spot and torched the bus before damaging a fire tender which had arrived on the spot to extinguish flames of the burning bus, he said.

The protesters also blocked Chapra-Patna road on NH-19 demanding compensation to the aggrieved family, Ansari said, adding the senior officials rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators.
 

The bus driver managed to escape before the mob attacked the vehicle, the SDO said.
