Businessman abducted in Assam

A businessman was abducted by suspected militants in Dima Hasao district, police said today.

Tapash Devnath (35) was abducted along with his two brothers when they were returning home in Lower Haflong area last night.

While the two brothers were later released, Devnath was yet to be traced.

It is suspected that an underground organisation was involved in the abduction for extortion, they said, adding that security forces have launched a search operation.
