A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was today injured in an encounter with naxals in a dense forest in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said.
The skirmish took place in forests between Mudvendi and Karka villages under Gangaloor police station limits when a team of DRGwas out on a search operation, Deputy Inspector General of Police (south Bastar range) Sundarraj P told PTI.
The patrolling team came under heavy firing from ultras between Mudvendi and Karka, around 450 kms away from here, that led to exchange of fire.
Security forces retaliated strongly following which naxalites fled from the spot, he said.
