Card holders to get more free rice from current month

Each of the 3.3 lakh families covered under family ration card scheme would be issued 20 kg rice free of cost during this month, Puducherry Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister M.Kandasamy today said.

The card holders were already getting ten kg rice free of cost through ration shops every month, he said.

As decided by government, the quantum of rice has been raised to 20 kilo a month from this month.

The exact date on which the increased quantum would be distributed, will be decided in next few days, he added.
