Cardamom falls on muted demand

In thin trading, prices of cardamom brown fell Rs 10 per kg in the national capital today largely amid subdued demand from retailers and stockists at prevailing higher levels amid adequate stocks.

Increased arrivals from producing regions also put pressure on the prices of cardamom brown.

The prices of cardamom brown-Jhundiwali and Kanchicut declined Rs 10 each to conclude at Rs 1,720-1,740 and Rs 1,970-1,990 per kg, respectively.

Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down cardamom prices.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 160-190, black pepper (per kg) 630-780, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,720-1,740 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,970-1,990.
 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 790-850, cardamom (colour robin) 790-810, cardamom bold 800-820, cardamom extra (bold) 920-970 and cloves 700-800.
