Cardamom prices were up 1.61 per cent to Rs 995 per kg in futures trading today as participants enlarged positions, driven by rising domestic as well as exports demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in August month rose by Rs 15.80, or 1.61 per cent to Rs 995 per kg in business turnover of 1 lot.
On similar lines, the spice for delivery in far-month September contracts edged up by Rs 4.40, or 0.46 per cent to Rs 966 per kg in 14 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in cardamom futures to widening of bets by traders on the back of rising domestic as well as exports demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing belts.
