Case of sexual abuse, suicide abetment against PSI

Goa Crime Branch today registered an FIR against a sub-inspector for allegedly sexually abusing a woman police constable and abetting her suicide.

A case was registered against police sub-inspector Gautam Shetkar under IPC sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 306 (abetment to suicide) after a preliminary investigation, a senior crime branch official said.

A newly recruited lady constable, attached to Verna police station, died at a hospital on February 4, 2018 after allegedly consuming poison.

Her family alleged that Shetkar had sexually abused her on the previous night.

Shetkar has not been arrested in the case yet.
