Cases registered against former TN minister, others

Cases were registered today against former AIADMK Minister Sathyamoorthy and four others for allegedly organising bullock cart race in violation of Supreme Court orders, police said.

Sathyamoorthy, now in DMK, and others organised the race on July 15 despite police denying them permission. The apex court had banned bullock cart race and "Jallikattu" (taming of bulls), Inspector Balamurgan said.

Besides Sathyamoorthy, cases were booked against Ramamurthy, M Haneefa, H Aliyar and Kadaladi Mahadevan. Aliyar has been arrested.
