Police today claimed to have foiled a major cattle smuggling attempt by arresting seven persons from Nagrota area on the outskirts of Jammu city.
Seven persons, identified as Raiz Ahmed, Ali Mohammed, Muneer Ahmed, Javed Ahmed, Mohd Khaliq, Shah Nawaz and Mohd Abbas were arrested when they were trying to smuggle 79 bovine animals on four trucks, a police spokesman said.
A case was registered and all the vehicles have been impounded, he said, adding further investigation is on.
