CBI arrests ITO, team assaulted by fellow tax officers

An Income Tax officer was today arrested by CBI here for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs two lakh from a complainant.

Sources said Niranjan Kumar was caught while accepting the bribe during a search operation by the CBI team.

They said soon after the arrest, members of Income Tax official union gathered around the CBI team and launched a serious assault on the officers.

CBI is likely to file an FIR on the assault at the local police station, they said.
