CBI searches tainted ex-Noida engineer Yadav Singh's house

CBI today conducted searches at the residence of tainted former Noida chief engineer Yadav Singh who is facing probe for amassing disproportionate assets and corruption.

Today morning, CBI sleuths reached the Noida Sector 51 residence, which was found locked and sealed yesterday, got it opened and started searches even as Singh remained elusive, sources said.

The agency had registered two cases against Singh, the then Chief Engineer, Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway, and his family members for alleged corruption and amassing assets disproportionate to known sources of income.

These cases have been registered on the directions of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court.
 

As part of the corruption case against Yadav, several top builders and politicians of the area have come under CBI scanner following inputs about their regular interaction with the Engineer, souces said.

The agency had also searched the residential premises of Garima Bhushan, married to an IAS officer, at posh Butler Palace Colony.

The first case has been registered under criminal conspiracy and provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act against Singh and three of his family members besides one more person Rajender Minocha for amassing disproportionate assets, the spokesperson said.

The official said the second case relates to allegations of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act against Singh.

The accused allegedly entered into criminal conspiracy with unknown private persons and firms and awarded various contracts without following the laid down procedures, thereby caused undue pecuniary gain to the tune of crores of rupees to private firms and to himself, the official said.
