The Centre has allotted 36 MHz bandwidth to the Gujarat government for broadcasting various educations and training programmes for the benefit of the students of the state.
The allotted bandwidth would enable the Bhaskaracharya Institute of Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG) under the Gujarat government to start 16 channels through its dedicated Satellite Communication (SATCOM) network, a state government release said here today.
The categories of programmes would include mathematics and science subjects for schools students, programmes on medical and technical subjects, to prepare students for competitive exams, on agriculture, hygiene as well as animal husbandry.

The Gujarat government claimed that such programme would help students secure more marks in exams and increase skills needed to get jobs.
Such satellite-based education would provide free of cost tuitions to students in rural areas, the release said.
