Chana futures extend losses, down 0.75% on sluggish demand

Chana prices fell further by 0.75 per cent to Rs 5,990 per quintal in futures trade today as participants cut down their positions amid muted demand in the spot market.

In futures trading at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in June fell by Rs 45 or 0.75 per cent to Rs 5,990 per quintal with an open interest of 7,540 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in July contracts traded lower by Rs 40 or 0.65 per cent to Rs 6,087 per quintal in 10,940 lots.

Analysts said besides fall in demand in the spot market, ample stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts kept chana prices lower at futures trade.
