A leading Kerala-based private finance company here has lodged a complaint against its eight staff members for keeping imitation jewellery in place of original ones in the locker some nine months ago.
The complaint lodged with Thudiyalur police claimed that the staff had changed 437.5 grams of gold jewels valued at Rs. 12.25 lakh brought from its Chennai office in September last and kept fake jewels in its place in its Koundanpalayam office, police said today.
The 'cheating' came to light, during the auditing last month, when it was found that all the jewellery was imitation and gold coated ones, they said.
Based on the complaint last night, police registered a case under sections of IPC 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating), they said, adding that no arrests have been made.
