Chennai team wins Aircraft design contest in memory of Kalam

WINX from Bharath Unvieresity, Chennai, won the Dr Abdul Kalam trophy, along with a prize money of Rs 10,000 in the Aircraft Design contest, organised by as a tribute to the former president on this 84th birth day today.

More than 15 teams made their presentations, bringing out their innovative and creative technical skills for design of the aircraft for the civil aviation industry.

Team REC Aero of Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai and Team 3EJet of Park College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore won the first and second runners prize of Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 and trophies respectively.

In the Aero modeling competition for engineering college students, Team NGPIANS from Dr.NGP Institute of Technology, Coimbatore won the first prize and a trophy and Team AERO UTSAV from Bharath University, Chennai was the runners.
 

In Aero modeling competition conducted by Aero modeling Club of KCT for school students, the AVB Matriculation School secured the first prize, while Vivekam CBSE School and TKS School won the second and third prize respectively.

The Chinmaya International Resident School students won the first prize in Inter school quiz conducted in memory of Dr. Kalam, as Vivekam CBSE School and K'sirs International School won the second and third prize, a college release said

The events were inaugurated by former DRDO Scientist, K R Ananth, who had worked under Kalam for more than a decade.

Meanwhile, students of CMS College of Science and Commerce today lit 30,602 candles at the college premises as part Kalam's birth day programmes.

The candles symbolized as many as days Kalam lived on the Earth and nearly 3,000 students assembled in the college auditorium and paid the unique candle light homage, college sources said.
