Commercial Tax Officer with Rs 2 crore illegal assets held

A Commercial Tax Officer (CTO) in Andhra Pradesh has been found in possession of assets worth over Rs 1.83 crore which are disproportionate to his known sources of income, ACB said today.

The officer, Chensani Venkata Narayana Reddy, posted at Parvathiuram in the district, was arrested after a case of disproportionate assets was registered against him, the Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) said in a release.

Details about Reddy's unaccounted wealth worth over Rs 1.83 crore were unearthed after ACB conducted raids at his residence and houses of his relatives and friends in Kurnool and Anantapur districts, it said.

Reddy, a native of Dharmavaram in Anantapur district, was posted at Itchapuram in Srikakulam district before being transferred to Parvathipuram.
 

His assets include two house plots each in Kurnool and Prakasam districts, two houses in Kurnool, agriculture land measuring 34.50 acres in Anantapur district and bank balance worth Rs 3 lakh, the release said.
