Congress leaders today said the party would organise rallies across Uttar Pradesh to press the Samajwadi Party government for the introduction of the Food Security Scheme in the state.

Alleging that the intentions of the SP government in this regard were not clear, the Congress said a rally would be organised in each Lok Sabha constituency of the state by December 30 to exhort the state to implement the scheme.

"The intentions of the SP government on implementing the Food Security Scheme are not clear.. They have delayed its implementation till July giving the excuse of huge transport charges," UPCC president Nirmal Khatri told reporters.

Khatri said it has been decided in the meeting of zonal coordinators today that in order to create awareness about the food scheme, assert pressure for its implementation and on dismal law and order situation, public meetings would be held.

The meeting also took stock of the preparations for the programme to gherao Chief Minister's residence on November 30 on the same issue, Khatri said.
