: Kerala Congress (Jacob) today alleged that the bribery charges levelled by bar owners against Finance Minister and Kerala Congress (M) leader K M Mani was a 'conspiracy' engineered by some of his enemies.
KC(J) Chairman Johny Nelloor told reporters here the charge was a 'conspiracy' by a section of enemies of the minister to tarnish his clean image and that of his party and demanded a thorough probe to ascertain who were behind it.
He said it was quite strange for the bar owners to allege that a bribe had been given to Mani to get to get opened the closed bar-attached hotels, which was not even under his portfolio. .
He said Mani has been in active politics in Kerala since 1964 ans since then had been elected to the Assembly from Palai in all elections by a vast majority.
