A police constable was today injured in an exchange of fire with Naxals in forests of Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, an official said
The skirmish took place this afternoon in the forests between Sapenhur and Matla villages under Amabeda police station limits, about 300km from here, when a joint team of the BSF and the District Force was on an anti-Maoist operation, a local police official told PTI.
Rebels opened indiscriminate fire on security forces who retaliated. Afterthegunfight that lasted for around an hour, the rebels fled deep inside the forests, he added.

"Constable Pradeep Sori sustained bullet injury on his left thigh in the incident," he said.
During a search oftheencounter site, a huge cache of Maoist-related materials was recovered,he said.
Bloodstainsfoundatthespotindicated that some ultras might have been killed or injured inthegun battle, the official added.
