Consumer bodies asked to participate in Swachh Bharat Mission

The Ministry has suggested that they take responsibility of cleanliness in at least one toilet in a girl's school for entire year

The government today said it has asked voluntary consumer bodies to take responsibility of cleanliness in at least one toilet in girl's school for a year.

Union Consumer Affairs Ministry has written to all voluntary consumer bodies as well as non-profit organisations (NGOs) to actively participate in the 'Swachh Bharat Mission' (Clean India Campaign), an official statement said.

The Ministry has suggested them to take responsibility of cleanliness in at least one toilet in a girl's school for entire year.

That apart, the Ministry has also asked them to run awareness campaigns to mobilise people for 'Swachh Bharat Mission' by organising debate, essay and poster competitions among consumers in particular and people in general.
 

Swachh Bharat Mission was officially launched on October 2, 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
