Cop arrested on charges of trying to rape girl

Om Tiwari, posted at Shivganj police outpost, entered the house of the girl when she was alone and allegedly tried to rape her, SSP K Angel Rasan said.

When the girl raised an alarm, Tiwari fled and hid himself in the outpost, he said.

Angry locals demonstrated in front of the outpost demanding action against the policeman.

They dispersed only when the SSP said Tiwari had been arrested and departmental action initiated against him.
