An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of police was today arrested while allegedly accepting bribe from a person for "getting" a case settled.
Bhalwan police post in-charge ASI Sherwinder Singh was arrested "red handed" with the bribe money of Rs 10,000 by a team of vigilance bureau, a bureau spoeksman said here.
Complainant Kulwant Singh of Bhalwan village in Dhuri tehsil in Sangrur district had alleged that Sherwinder Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for getting a case settled with his brother-in-law.

Acting on his complaint, a trap was laid by the team of Vigilance Bureau who arrested the ASI.
The spokesman said that after the recovery of bribe money, a case under section 7 and 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act,1988, was registered against the accused at Vigilance Police Station at Patiala.
