A sub-inspector attached to a police station in Kolhapur in western Maharashtra was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting bribe of Rs 75,000, outside the Bombay High Court campus here today, a senior official said.
"Mahadeo Gholap, a PSI with Ajra police station in Kolhapur, was caught when he was accepting Rs 75,000 from a complainant this afternoon," said Srinivas Ghatge, Additional SP (ACB), Thane.
Gholap had initially sought Rs one lakh from the complainant, booked in connection with some case along with others, to carry out investigation in their favour, but finally settled for Rs 75,000, he said.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered by local police against Gholap.
