Cop knocked down by motorcycle

A Delhi Police Constable was seriously injured today when a motorcycle carrying two youth allegedly knocked him down at a check-post on Delhi-Haryana border, police said.

According to the police, the motorcycle-rider, identified as Narender (19), has been arrested while the juvenile pillion-rider detained.

The incident took place when Constable Jaswinder Singh Mann (35) tried to stop the youth at a check post in North Delhi's Narela area, police said adding the biker duo were allegedly trying to smuggle liquor bottles across the border.

Instead of stopping, the youth tried to flee by speeding the bike and in the process hit the constable, the official said.
 

Mann was taken to hospital with serious head and leg injuries, police said.
