A Delhi Police constable and his wife were allegedly targeted by a group of bike-borne robbers in a lane behind Red Fort but fled when another cop arrived.
The incident happened with Avdhesh Kumar and his wife Sudha Yadav yesterday evening when they were on their way to Bhajanpura to attend a wedding, police said.
Their bike was stopped by the robbers who had a firearm. They tried to rob his wife's jewellery and when Kumar intervened, they assaulted him.
Fortunately, another police personnel coming from Shanti Van Chowk arrived at the spot and the robbers fled after firing to threaten him. No one was injured, police said.
