Copper rises on global cues; industrial demand

Taking positive cues from overseas market and pick-up in domestic demand, copper traded higher by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today.

On the other hand, other metals after moving in a tight range on some support, settled at previous levels.

Traders said sentiments in copper turned better as it advanced in global markets after weaker-than-estimated inflation data from China bolstered the case for further stimulus.

Meanwhile, copper for three month delivery gained 0.2 per cent to USD 5,959.50 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap were up by Rs 2 to Rs 406 per kg.
 

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 114-120, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 1,015-1,020, Gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, Copper mixed scrap Rs 406, Chadri deshi Rs 285.

Lead ingot Rs 106, Lead imported Rs 107, Aluminium ingots Rs 157, Aluminium sheet cutting Rs 158, Aluminium wire scrap Rs 160 and Aluminium utensils scrap Rs 157.
