Coriander, jeera rise on increased buying, tight supply

Coriander and jeera prices rose by Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today largely on the back of increased buying by retailers and stockists amidst fall in supplies from producing belts.

Besides, a firming trend at futures market also supported the uptrend.

Corianderc prices were up by Rs 200 to settle at Rs 12,000-17,000 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also higher by Rs 200 each to conclude at Rs 11,300-11,500 and Rs 14,500-15,000 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists against fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up coriander and jeera prices.
 

Following are today's quotations:

Ajwain (per kg) 155-200, black pepper (per kg) 740-925, betel-nut (kg) 270-320, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,500-1,560 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,600-1,750.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 740-790, cardamom (colour robin) 640-660, cardamom bold 660-690, cardamom extra (bold) 860-890 and cloves 730-830.
