Couple axed to death by girl's family in Pakistan

In a case of honour killing, a young couple in Pakistan was axed to death allegedly by the girl's family.

The girl's mother has confessed to killing her 21-year-old daughter Iqra and 25-year youth Abbas she was having an affair after they the couple were found in the family's house in Lahore's Chuhng area, police said.

The mother said that she along with her husband and son killed her daughter yesterday for "disgracing the family's name".

Abbas wanted to marry Iqra, but her parents had rejected the proposal.

In the early hours yesterday, Abbas visited Iqra by scaling the boundary wall of her house. On finding them in a room, the girl's mother alerted the other family members.
 

The mother, Zahida Parveen, told police that she woke up at 3 am and heard someone else voice inside her daughter's room.

"I woke up my husband and son and broke into the room and attacked Iqra and her Abbas with ax," she confessed.

Police have arrested the accused.
