After finding evidence against former magistrate Nagraj Sudam Shinde (35) in a rape case, Additional Sessions Judge J P Utpat rejected anticipatory bail to the accused today.

Utpat had ordered the accused to be present in the court on Friday, but Shinde was absent in the court today.

Allegedly, Shinde lured a minor girl with promises of giving her a gold ornament and then raped her in the absence of his wife.

Shinde had resigned from his judicial magistrate (first class) post six months ago and came to his native place in Ambegaon Pathare, near Katraj. The minor girl is his neighbour.

Shinde was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. The medical report also said that the minor girl was raped.

The special court has granted anticipatory bail till August 7, Bharti Vidyapeeth police station's senior police inspector Machindra Chavan said.
