Press Trust of India Srinagar
Jammu and Kashmir unit of CPI(M) today demanded arrest of BSF personnel involved in the firing incident of Ramban district which left four persons dead.

"Disbursement of ex-gratia relief to the next of kin of Gool firing victims should not close the chapter. If sincere, the government must administer justice to these families by arresting the erring BSF personnel," CPI(M) state secretary M Y Tarigami said in a statement.

He said, given the number of such brutal incidents of human rights violation and swelling number of inquiries ordered by successive governments, people feel dejected and have lost hope and trust from institutions of justice.

The CPI(M) leader said probes have been announced in past but nothing concrete ever came to fore.

"What happened to the commission of inquiry constituted by the state government to probe some of the 2010 killings? Not a single person has been handed down any punishment and had it been the case, repeated violation of human rights would not have occurred," he said.
