Alleging that miscreants sheltered by the ruling Trinamool Congress were behind the killing of a party leader in Hasnabad in North 24-Parganas district, Opposition CPI-M today sought Governor MK Narayanan's intervention to ensure such incidents were checked.
After meeting the West Bengal Governor at Raj Bhavan here, former state finance minister Asim Dasgupta told reporters that the Hasnabad incident was a direct attack on democracy.
"We sought the Governor's intervention so that it is not repeated elsewhere in the state. It is not an isolated incident; we feel it may take place elsewhere. The Governor expressed his concern," he said.
