Crude oil falls by 0.6% on weak Asian cues

Speculators reduced their positions amid a weakening trend in Asian trade

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Crude oil futures fell 0.65% to Rs 3,664 per barrel today as speculators reduced their positions amid a weakening trend in Asian trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in May shed Rs 24 or 0.65% to Rs 3,664 per barrel in 443 lots.

In a similar manner, the oil for June delivery moved down by Rs 21 or 0.55% to Rs 3,779 per barrel in 26 lots.

The trading sentiment eased at futures trade after crude oil prices slipped on profit-taking in Asian trade today following sharp gains in the previous session as ongoing unrest in the Middle East fuels worries about supplies from the crude-rich region, analysts said.

Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude fell 26 cents to $57.48 while Brent crude eased 26 cents to $64.59 a barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange in late morning trade today.
