A youth was arrested for possessing currency notes worth Rs 42 lakh from Burdwan junction station under Eastern Railway today, a GRP officer said.
Gouranga Konar was arrested by GRP personnel from platform no. 5 as he alighted from DN Danapur Express when the cops checked his large baggage and the currency notes tumbled out, the officer said.
Konar was taken into custody by the GRP as he could not back-up his claim of the cash meant to be handed over to a rice merchant in Burdwan town, the officer added.
The youth had boarded the train from Patna.
