A 45-year-old man was killed while his family members were thrashed with batons and iron rods allegedly by a group of armed dacoits who fled away with their valuables in Dhusah village of the district.
Around 12 armed men barged into the house of Ram Naresh (45) last night with the aim of loot, police said today.
They thrashed him along with his wife, Madhuri and two sons - Ramgopal and Krishnalal -- with lathis and iron rods when they refused to give away their valuables, they said.

Naresh, succumbed to injuries on his way to the hospital, police said adding that his wife, Madhuri, who is serious, has been referred to a Gonda hospital.
Superintendent of Police V D Shukla said two teams have been constituted to arrest the culprits.
