Death toll in UP tractor-train accident touches 10

Two persons, including a 5-year-old girl, succumbed to their injuries taking the death toll in an accident between a train and tractor trolley at Najibabad to 10, police said today.

One of the victims, identified as Dikshi, died this morning at a private hospital after she was transferred from Merut District Hospital, they said.

Meanwhile, one Charan Singh died on late Wednesday night.

Uttar Pradesh government announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured ones.

The passengers were all on their way to Haridwar to perform 'mundan' ceremony of a boy when the tractor trolley in which they were traveling was hit by Kotdwar-bound passenger train at an unmanned crossing on Tuesday, police said.
 

While, four persons died on the spot and 19 got injured on Tuesday, four others died on Wednesday morning.
