Deputy Tahsildhar among 3 held for fake appointment orders

A Deputy Tahsildhar here and two women, including a panchayat union assistant, have been suspended for allegedly issuing fake appointment orders by forging the signature of the District Collector in various departments.

Officials said the fraud came to light when one Gopikrishnan showed his "appointment order" for the post of a night watchman in the Collectorate here to the driver of Collector S Manoharan.

On suspicion, he checked the order with officials and found it was a fake. Gopikrishnan had paid Rs.Two lakh for getting the order.

An investigation ordered by the Collector revealed the appointment orders had been issued from Aranthangi Tahsildhar office by a temporary employee in collusion with Deputy Tahsildhar Selvaganapathy (grievances cell) in Collectorate. He had allegedly collected upto Rs 27 lakh, assuring to give jobs to various persons.
 

The collector ordered the suspension of Selvaganapathy, Panchayat Union Assistant Sundari and the temporary employee Tamilselvi and directed officials to give a complaint to police, who registered a case.
