Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today accused his predecessor P K Dhumal of filing "false" and "frivolous" cases against the latter's political opponents and asked him to do "self-introspection".

Reacting sharply to Dhumal's allegation that he was treating his political opponents as "enemy", Virbhadra said that it was Dhumal who even went to the extent of filing "false" and "frivolous" cases against his political opponents who came out unscathed from all the allegations.

"I have full respect for my opponents and always treat them with due regards, despite the fact that they are always bent upon doing mischief of some sort or the other to play down Congress leaders," the Chief Minister said.

"It seems that Dhumal was suffering from some sort of complex as he had failed to distinguish between the party and public functions. He should do self-introspection," Virbhadra said adding that Dhumal always acted with vengeance against him.

Maintaining that Dhumal failed to shoulder the responsibility as Leader of the 0opposition, Singh said that "It was the duty of Dhumal to preach discipline to his party MLA's and they should learn make difference between party and public functions and not to indulge in vandalism".

Dhumal yesterday accused the Chief Minister of treating his opponents as enemies and condemned the incident at Shri Naina Devi in which the local BJP MLA Randheer Sharma was not allowed to speak.

Dhumal had maintained that as per the government schedule, the programme at Senior Secondary School Bassi was a public meeting and not a rally of Congress and misbehaviour with the local MLA no matter was undemocratic and demanded an enquiry into the matter.

"This is not the first incident of this kind and earlier also a large number of leaders have been manhandled in the presence of Virbhadra Singh and it seemed that the Chief Minister did not believe in democracy and resorted to undemocratic means to silence his political opponents whom he considers as enemies," he had alleged.
