A cashier of a Jaipur discom was shot dead and a guard was injured allegedly by three unidentified men who robbed Rs 12 lakh from them here.

Cashier Rajesh (35), guard Shivlal (55) and another employee came out of their office yesterday with two bags of cash, containing Rs 21 lakh in all, to deposit in a bank, police said.

The three accused, who were outside the office, opened fire at the discom employees. Bullets hit Rajesh and Shivlal and the third employee managed to rush back inside the office with one of the bags.

"The accused then snatched a bag from Rajesh containing Rs 12 lakh and fled," police said today. While Rajesh died on the spot, Shivlal is in a critical condition in SMS hospital of Jaipur.

Eight teams have been formed to identify and locate the accused, police said.
