Sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested a divisional accountant of Public Health and Engineering Department for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000, its spokesperson said here.
Divisional Accountant Prahalad Singh was arrested for allegedly accepting the bribe from a contractor for clearing his bills of civil works.
The contractor had lodged a complaint with the ACB headquarters that the Divisional Accountant had demanded Rs 50,000 for clearing his civil works' bill of Rs 61.80 lakh in two installments, the spokesperson said.

In the first payment, the accountant cleared a bill of Rs 1.80 lakh and he was to clear the remaining bill of Rs 60 lakh on which he demanded Rs 50,000 as bribe from the contractor.
The ACB laid a trap in which the accountant was caught red-handed and arrested from his house, the spokesperson said.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was lodged against him, she said.
