In order to make the city self-reliant in water, Delhi Jal Board (DJB) today said that it will create 35 MGD of water in next six months through its flood water harvesting project at Palla floodplains.
Water Minister Kapil Mishra along with DJB officials and experts today reviewed progress of flood water harvesting project at Palla, which he claimed was one of its kind in the world.
"After the initiation of this Palla project, DJB has already created an extra 10 million gallons per day (10 MGD).

"In the next 6 months, 35 MGD will be created in the first phase and reaching a total of 60 MGD by the end of the year, in terms of extra production," the DJB said in a statement.
It also stated that a new reservoir will also be created in Palla, which will be monitored by a central control room with automatic monitoring which will monitor water quality like arsenic, salinity which will shut down tubewells if there is contamination.
