DoT panel to decide on Rs 3,050 cr fine on RJio rivals: Sinha

A Department of Telecom (DoT) panel will decide on penalty recommendation ofRs 3,050 crore on three telecom companies for violating license agreement and denial of interconnection to newcomer RJio, Minister of State for Telecom,Manoj Sinha today said.

"The committee is considering the recommendations. Letthe report come and then we will decide," he toldreporters on the sidelines of the second meeting of BRICSCommunications Ministers here.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had recommended a hefty penalty of Rs 3,050 crore on Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, for violating license agreement and denying of interconnection to new playerReliance Jio.

Mukesh Ambani's RJio had allegedthat its subscribers were unable to make calls to other networks as other operator were not providing adequateinter-connection points.
