Two locations were raided and dredged sand worth around Rs 42 lakhs was seized, a senior revenue official said today.
The raids were conducted yesterday following directions by Thane district collector Mahendra Kalyankar, the official said.
He said the district administration has initiated the auction for dredging of sand legally vide e-auction system and a total of 12 blocks have been identified in Thane and Kalyan for the purpose of extraction.
In the raids, officials seized 469 brass of illegally dredged sand, he said, adding cases under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code were registered.
