The Election Commission has appointed Rajiv Sinha and Sanjiv as Special observers for the Nellithope Assembly constituency, going to byelection on November 19.
District Election Officer of Puducherry Satyendra Singh Durswat said in a release here today that the officers have been appointed to ensure that the poll went off peacefully and in a fair manner.
They would monitor adherence to model code of conduct now in force, movement of police personnel and also to monitor expenses incurred by the contesting candidates and political parties.
Chief Minister and former Union Minister of State V Narayanasamy and AIADMK's Om Sakthi Sagar are the main contestants in the bypoll.
