The Commission said the complaint, filed by a group of lawyers supporting opposition nominee P A Sangma yesterday evening, was not admissible under the Representation of People Act as it did not apply to the Presidential poll.
The EC discussed the compalint today.
Sources in the Commission said the complaint had held that it was a case of wooing MLAs and MPs through lunches and dinners in favour of the ruling party nominee, which was "violation" of the Representation of People Act.
The complaint also cited the UPA lunch hosted by Congress here today as well as lunches and dinners hosted by Congress leaders in various states during Mukherjee's visits there.
Mukherjee was not present in today's UPA lunch.
