Eight persons were killed and over 12 others injured in a head-on collision between a van carrying a marriage party and a truck, a police said here today.
Muneen Shakya (55), Kaptan Singh (50), Siyaram (60), Gorelal (62), Hakim Singh (62), Mohan Lal (65), Lakhan Singh (65) and Ramlal (60) were killed when the van they were travelling in collided with the truck near Banakia village last night, it said.
The wedding party was on its way to Chibramau in Kannauj district when it collided with a speeding truck, police said.
The injured have been hospitalised.
The truck has been seized, while its driver escaped, police added.
An FIR has been lodged at Bewar police station, it said.
