Elderly man injured by wild boars

A 65-year-old man was today injured after being attacked by a group of wild boars at Nodhabasanta village near Bhitarkanika wildlife sanctuary of Odisha's Kendrapara district, official sources said.
Bidyadhar Jena received multiple wounds and was first taken to the district headquarters hospital here and then shifted to another hospital as his condition worsened, they said.
The forest department is bearing the cost of his treatment. Besides ex-gratia would be disbursed to his family, Divisional Forest Officer, Rajnagar Mangrove (Wildlife) Forest Division, Kedar Kumar Swain said.
Wild boars stray from the dwindling forest into paddy fields and villages in search of food and damage vegetables grown by villagers.
