Elderly woman charred to death in fire

: A 70-year-old woman was charred to death and some livestock and huge quantity of utensils destroyed in a fire at nearby Perundurai today, police said.

The fire that broke out in a thatched hut this afternoon spread to five other huts nearby and the old woman was trapped in her hut, they said.
