A 24-year-old engineer died and an operator fell unconscious due to gas leakage in a paper mill at Bithri Chainpur village near here, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday afternoon when Junior Engineer Purshottam alias Pawan Giri and operator Suresh (25) were working in Shyama Paper Mill, they said.
Giri died on the spot and Suresh was rushed to the hospital, where his condition was stated to be stable, police said, adding an FIR has been registered and investigation is underway.
